Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I buy a Fixed Rate plan?
Natural Gas cannot be transported over oceans due to high pipeline costs,
so we are mainly dependent upon North American production. The natural gas crisis is
typically described by the increasing price of natural gas in North America over the last
few years, due to the decline in indigenous supply and the increase in demand for electricity
generation. Indigenous supply in the U.S. has fallen from 20,570,295 MMcf in 2001 to 19,144,768
MMcf in 2005. Because of the drop in production (exacerbated by the dramatic hit to production
that came from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita) and the continuing growth in demand, the price has
become so high that many industrial users, mainly in the petrochemical industry,
have closed their plants. Enrolling in a Fixed Rate plan helps you avoid these problems.
Who will supply and bill me for natural gas?
Your supply, distribution and billing will still remain with Terasen Gas. We work with Terasen Gas to
provide you with the best options for your Natural Gas needs!
How long is the contract, what if I move?
We provide 4 and 5 year contracts for fixed natural gas price agreements. If you move, you can
continue to take full advantage of your fixed price, no matter where you move to in BC!
When will my plan begin?
If you signed prior to September 30, 2007 your plan is scheduled to start November 1st, 2007,
and you will see your fixed rate on your first natural gas bill thereafter. If you signed up after
September 30, your plan should commence in 2-3 month thereafter.
